Golf Flexibility Stretches for Optimal Energy - Tip # 2

Do you fizzle out on the back nine?

One of the most frequent requests I get from clients is "I need help with increasing my energy levels for the last few holes in a round."

While most sport specific trainers focus on what 'the books' taught them, I use flexibility training to help golfers 'unlock' the energy that is already present in their bodies.

You see, tight muscles & joints force you to work harder for any type of movement you are performing - even if it is just walking (you know those days where you feel like you are 3 times your actual weight?)

By being forced to work against your own body - you feel sluggish and lethargic - and you do get fatigued & exhausted. A bad scenario for a golfer who wants to perform at peak levels.

The proper golf stretching routine helps you to loosen up those parts that are restricting your normal movement patterns - hence giving you more energy and reversing fatigue. So, we get 2 benefits here (there's really a lot more than just 2) - your swing is smoother and you have more natural energy being applied to the swing.

Also, just like many people report 'runners high' when jogging for certain distances - we have something called 'stretcher's high' - this is the immediate feeling of increased energy, pain relief and a warm 'buzz' throughout the entire body upon completion of a properly structured golf stretching exercise routine.

Don't neglect one the most overlooked elements of effective golf fitness - flexibility. It should be one notch above resistance training for golf performance purposes.

It truly works wonders for any golfer at any age and it can be done literally anywhere - without equipment or a health club membership. Taking 10 - 15 minutes to run through a simple, yet targeted series of golf stretches in the clubhouse will go a long way in making your outings enjoyable and quite possibly lower-scoring performances.
